FCA Endurance
Established in 2005
Opportunity for Impact:
In the United States, 13.4 million adults run over 100 times per year, 8.1 million compete in organized road races, and more than one million people competed in a triathlon in 2007. Each year, nearly one million people compete in sprint distance triathlons, Ironman competitions, duathlons, aquathons, and aquabike competitions. The number of marathons in America has grown 29% in the last 11 years. With the world of endurance sports growing annually, there is a great opportunity for Christian athletes to impact this community for Jesus Christ.
FCA Endurance Staff:
- Chris Anderson – National Director
- Joe Dannelly – National Ministry Coordinator
Ministry Strategy:
We are accomplishing FCA’s Vision and Mission within the endurance sports community (primarily in the sports of triathlon, running, cycling, and inline) by uniting and equipping Christian endurance athletes to grow in their personal relationship with Jesus Christ and to share their faith with others. Through a grass-roots, relationship-based strategy, we meet athletes where they are, show them Jesus’ love in relevant ways, and challenge them to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior.
- Uniting Nationally – We invite Christian endurance athletes of every caliber (primarily adults) to race boldly for Jesus Christ under the banner of FCA. This allows athletes to enjoy the blessings of Christian community (fellowship and discipleship) with those who share their passion. Organizing, encouraging, and equipping athletes also provides an increased opportunity to effectively impact those who do not know Jesus Christ as they train, race, and live together.
- Uniting Locally – As the Holy Spirit guides, we are forming Adult Huddles (chapters). This allows for a deeper level of intimacy, discipleship, and equipping within the local team. More importantly, it provides an opportunity to more effectively reach out to non-Christians through training, racing, and serving together.
- Equipping – We are equipping endurance athletes to more effectively share their faith through sport. To accomplish this, we are developing the Endurance Ministry Institute (EMI) which will include conferences, online curriculum, and resources.
